ErgoErgo Sitting Stool: Perfect For Work — Or A Tiny House!
We spend so much time slumped over a desk these days. I’m always looking for new ways to keep my body engaged rather than just give in to a sedentary life. I’ve explored various options for swapping out my traditional office chair, but something always held me back.
We’re a big family. With six kids, five of whom still live at home, space is a luxury. Everything I had researched involved clunky pieces or a base, so I was intrigued when I learned about the ErgoErgo. With spring cleaning in my home about to begin, it felt like the perfect time to freshen up my workspace.
When I checked out the website, I was really happy with the color selection. Right away, I knew I’d need the Apple Green one! It’s perfect for this time of year and during winter, it will add some brightness to those grey, dreary days.
Even from product photos, it’s obvious that the ErgoErgo is unique. It looks like a stool of sorts, but it’s shaped like an accordion. Due to its compact design, it could be perfect for use in many different settings from offices and schools to healthcare facilities and tiny homes!
Still, being on the shorter side, I wasn’t sure how the height of the ErgoErgo would work for me (or my desk). When it arrived, I noticed that it compresses a little when you sit on it and that it’s very similar in height to my swivel chair.
It took a few minutes to get used to, but it was immediately clear that my core and calves were working to keep me balanced. I’m around 5’2” so I find it most comfortable to combine the ErgoErgo with the foot stool that I’d already been using. I found myself rocking back and forth and really enjoying the feeling of being actively engaged while sitting.
After reviewing the site, I ordered the standard ErgoErgo, which has a height of 20.5”, diameter of 16” and weighs just seven pounds. My oldest son, who is 6’3”, was very comfortable sitting on it, but did say that he would probably move up to the next size if he ordered one for himself.
The ExtraErgo is optimal for people between 5’7” and 6’4” tall. It’s the same height as the standard model, but at 19” in diameter, the ExtraErgo gives users more space on the seat. This was what appealed to my son.
We have three toddlers in our home — a three-year-old and a set of two-year-old twins — and they all ran to the ErgoErgo when it was unpacked. They really liked the bright color! They tilted it on its side and rolled it around, and loved sitting on it (with someone helping them!). They make a KidsErgo in six vibrant colors, so I may need to order something for them in the near future!
Does your workday keep you in an office chair for hours on end? Switching things up with seating that keeps your body actively engaged may help. ErgoErgo offers a great alternative with a unique space-saving design and I couldn’t be happier!
